Real-space Green’s tensors for stress and strain in crystals with cubic anisotropy

چکیده
Real-space Green’s tensors are presented for the calculation of the stress or strain in infinite cubic crystals containing buried quantum wires or dots of arbitrary shape and composition, including the cubic anisotropy of elastic constants. The Green’s tensors are obtained as a polynomial series to second order in , an expansion coefficient defined in terms of the elastic stiffnesses. The zeroth-order term in the series is the usual isotropic Green’s tensor. The results agree extremely well with the numerical, exact formulation of Pan and Yang E. Pan and B. Yang, J. Appl. Phys. 90, 619

A Multi Plane Model for Natural Anisotropy of Sand
Anisotropy of sand is mainly due to the geometrical arrangement of particles that depends on the orientation of applied load respect to the bedding plane. It is geologically due to micro-fabric created by the arrangement of the particles configured during deposition. Most of the models develop using stress/strain invariants are not capable of identifying this kind of anisotropy. This is mainly ...
متن کاملSemi-analytic solution for thermoelastic problem with cubic anisotropy
In this paper, a semi-analytic thermal stress computation for single crystals with cubic anisotropy is developed, by introducing a new anisotropic factor. Based on a suitable splitting of the differential operators, a convergence series for general elasticity problem with cubic anisotropy is derived. Each term of the series is related to an isotropic elasticity problem. Using the analytic solut...
متن کاملElastic anisotropy effect on indentation-induced thin film interfacial delamination
Effect of elastic anisotropy on indentation-induced thin film interfacial delamination, especially, at the initiation and early growth stage, is examined. The indentation load is modeled as a constant pressure over an expanding semi-spherical cavity. The delamination process is approached by a cohesive zone model. The rest of the problem is formulated within the general anisotropic elasticity t...
متن کاملOn the statistical distribution of elastic moduli polycrystals
A method for calculating the distributions of the components of stiffness and compliance tensors of cubic polycrystalite material from parameters of single crystals is developed. Their mathematical form is derived under the assumption of normal distributions for the members of the rotation group SO(3). Finally the impact of texture on the distributions of Young’s modulus E, shear modulus G and ...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Interfacial Green’s Function for Exponentially Graded Transversely Isotropic Bi-Materials
By virtue of a complete set of two displacement potentials, an analytical derivation of the elastostatic Green’s functions of an exponentially graded transversely isotropic bi-material full-space was presented. Three-dimensional point-load Green’s functions for stresses and displacements were given in line-integral representations. The formulation included a complete set of transformed stress-p...
